Interview on Musicnotez the online magazine
MuzicNotez Crew: First off, it’s an honor to be doing this interview with you Canary, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us. Question: What motivated you to start creating music? What age did you begin? Answer: I'm glad to be here with you. I started learning the piano  and entered the music department at the University of Idaho at Moscow when I was 31. Time to Talk...or is that write..
Ah the sweet hurry up and wait of life...I remember that from my air Force days. Hurry up and wait. Took me eons of hours to prepare the musicians I'd gathers from the Cape Cod Symphony to rehears and record my chamber music. But I probably made every mistake known to music makers everywhere, except in my head. I think I should have been with ... Comments 1

ALL the presents are off. My kids say the're too old for presents!! And then they relish them. This year they cost more  to mail them than it cost for the things inside. The Northern Plains flute... is a bust. I was so busy copying phrases (licks in jazz talk)I wound up with a bunch of phrases. So was embaressed when the fellow who actually plays that flute turned it down. Gee, maybe I should run all my work past someone before I send it off. Then I have a small, three movement duo ...

It's nearly December
I'm wrapping present now in order to get them in the mail. If one doesn't do it early, your gift will arrive on Valentines Day. Musically, I'm working on a Shakahachi flute and poem piece. Since I wrote one for Northern Plains Indian flute and the Shakahachi fellow freaked, I'm working to get it right. It's very hard to notate the Shakahachi  using Finale. Way too subtle and fast. I was told the piece must be slow...yes to  accommodate  all the really fast things that happen to a ... Comments 2

Fanfare
This is a strange disc in more ways than one. First of all, it’s not a conventional CD with .wav files on it, but actually an mp3 disc. Secondly, the only liner notes are one short blurb from Alan Hovhaness praising the abilities of the pianist, John Zielinski, a one-paragraph bio of the composer, and another paragraph written by one Sue E. Dougherty praising Canary Burton’s music. Investigating Burton online, I discovered her website, which includes a photo of her mixing her ... Comments 1
